A proper Slovenian crossword, built to be honest

Križanke ships 2,000 interlocking crosswords across three difficulty tiers. Every across and down run is a real Slovenian word, validated against a Slovenian dictionary, and the clues are built from open language data, with the most common words hand-written for a natural feel. Everything runs on your device.

Three difficulty tiersLahka, Srednja and Težka: from easy grids of common words to large grids with tougher vocabulary. Pick a tier and get a fresh puzzle.

Clues from open dataDefinitions and synonyms drawn from Slovenian Wiktionary and the CJVT Thesaurus, with hundreds of common words hand-clued.

Data & privacy

Križanke runs entirely on your device and requests no network permission. All 2,000 puzzles are bundled with the app, and your progress, points and settings are stored locally.

Word data & licenses

Križanke's word list and clues are built from open Slovenian language resources. The app is an independent project and is not affiliated with the data providers below. In line with their licenses, here is the attribution, what was changed, and how the resulting data is shared.

What changed: definitions and synonyms were cleaned, shortened, filtered and in many cases rewritten to work as crossword clues; the clues for the most common words were written originally for this app; words were selected and graded by frequency; and a safety pass removed crude or trademarked entries.
