Summary
Zastoji does not create user accounts and does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs or crash-reporting SDKs. The device-location permission is optional on both Android and iOS. Your saved routes, favourite cameras and settings are stored on your device. To show live traffic, the app requests data over HTTPS from an endpoint operated by 2MAD Labs, which relays and normalizes public data from DARS, promet.si, ARSO, MeteoAlarm, Open-Meteo and goriva.si. On Android the base map itself is loaded from the OpenFreeMap tile service, and the app occasionally asks a 2MAD Labs version endpoint whether the installed version is still supported.
Information stored on your device
Zastoji stores the following locally on your device:
- Your saved routes, including their endpoints and the route corridor
- Favourite traffic cameras
- Which map layers you switched on, and your preferred fuel type
- Notification settings, per route and overall
- Theme preference
- A cached copy of the most recent traffic data, so the app and its widget can show something instantly
- A short-lived cache of recent camera stills and radar frames
- A small route-status summary shared with the home-screen widget
This information stays on your device. It is not sent to the app publisher.
If you have Android's system backup turned on, Android may include Zastoji's on-device data, such as saved routes and favourite cameras, in your device backup to your own Google account; that backup is handled by Android and Google under their terms. On iOS, your own iCloud device backup may likewise include the app's data. The app publisher has no access to either.
Data sent over the network
To provide traffic features, Zastoji sends requests over HTTPS to an endpoint operated by 2MAD Labs at zastoji.2madlabs.si. That service fetches and normalizes public data from DARS and promet.si, ARSO, MeteoAlarm, Open-Meteo and goriva.si, and it also proxies traffic-camera stills so they can be loaded securely. On Android the base map style and its tiles are loaded from the public OpenFreeMap service, which, like any web host, sees your IP address and the map area your device requests.
Requests carry only what the feature needs: the country-wide traffic snapshot carries no personal data at all, and a request for a specific camera, counter, border crossing, fuel station or travel-time segment carries only that item's public identifier. The app sends a header identifying its own version. The service does not receive your saved routes. Separately, the app occasionally asks a 2MAD Labs version endpoint (api.2madlabs.si) whether the installed version is still supported; that request carries only the app's identifier and version number, never personal data.
Route search and route geometry are handled differently per platform. On Android, place search and route computation use public OpenStreetMap-based services (Photon and OSRM), which receive the search text and the endpoints you enter. On iOS, place search, route corridors, live arrival times and the departure planner use Apple's MapKit and MKDirections on the device, and Apple's handling of those requests is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Location
Zastoji works without any location permission. You can browse the map, the event list and your saved routes without it.
The optional location permission is used in the foreground only, for two things: the "nearby" radius filter in the event list, which takes a single location fix, and highlighting the next rest area ahead of you on a saved route. The app never accesses your location in the background and does not request a background-location permission.
Your coordinates are used on the device to sort and filter what you already downloaded. They are not sent to the app publisher and are never used for advertising or profiling. You can turn the permission off at any time in Android settings or in iOS Settings.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Zastoji uses the notification permission only for alerts about your own saved routes: a new jam or carriageway closure on the route, and the all-clear when it disappears. On Android the ongoing "Vožnja" drive notification uses the same permission. You can turn these off per route, or entirely, in the app.
To catch new incidents, the app periodically refreshes traffic data in the background, which means requests to the endpoint above can happen while the app is closed. Those requests carry no personal data; the matching against your routes happens on the device.
Third-party services
The upstream providers and the relay service may process technical request information, such as IP address and request URL, according to their own policies. On Android, the OpenFreeMap tile service receives ordinary map-tile requests, and the place-search and routing services (Photon and OSRM) receive the text you type and the endpoints of a route you create. On iOS, the equivalent work is done through Apple's MapKit.
Data deletion
Deleting a saved route in the app removes it from your device. Uninstalling Zastoji removes all of the app's local data. On Android you can also clear the app's data from system settings; on iOS, deleting the app removes its data. Because nothing is stored on a server under your name, there is no account to delete.
Children
Zastoji is not designed specifically for children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app changes. The updated version will be published at this same address.
